Categories Pages Monday, December 5, 2011 Last day of 2011 - Another Year Done Boy, this year sure has been a full one, hasn't it? We can't wait to see what the new year brings! Even though we don't make New Year's resolutions for this time of year, I always love to look back at the year that has been and the year ahead. Today I thought I'd take a few minutes and share some of my favorite photography done in 2011. It's been a busy year and I've done it all! So you'll hear a lot about photography and a lot about my everyday life in the studio and out in the world. I'll also chat about any thought-provoking issues I've encountered, as well as thoughts about photography. Above is the Farmer's Market at the Davis Farmers' Market. Lots of work there. I took this photo on a sunny afternoon early in the year. I was also taking photos of people at the market that day and here's a sample of some of those too. This morning at sunrise I photographed this wonderful golden orb. I was back to the Farmers' Market in the afternoon for this one. I always love this time of day for landscape photography because it really brings out the colors, but I can't take the credit for these shots. Someone else took them the year before. I just find them here every year! I took the lovely lily pod home in an Easter basket last year - it just brought me back to spring. This was taken in front of the back door of the shop where we live. I also took a handful of flowers and placed them on the ground. This is how I look at those blooms - I pick them up, turn and place them there again with each burst of freshness. Spring and freshness! There is a great blend of watercolor and Photoshop in this one. The background is done in Photoshop and then watercolor was used to soft-focus the middle. Those are all from the year past. Here are a few favorites from this year. Another Farmer's Market, a magical butterfly moment at the top of a cherry tree, a City scape in one of our magical little gardens and a community favorite - the artesian well-head. We have a few of these in our little city of Davis.
